Semillas para el Futuro is
entirely supported by private donations and by the labor of volunteers
from Gutatemala and the United States. Incorporated as a non-profit
organization in Guatemala, its programs are overseen by a bi-national
Board of Directors. A small part-time staff manages day-to-day
Semillas is recognized as a
non-profit organization by the Guatemalan government and is
recognized as an 501c3 non-profit organization by the U.S. Treasury.

Semillas is affiliated with a U.S.-based community assistance non-profit
called Amigos de Chocolá.
Together, these organizations form a platform to help the people of Chocolá, support
archaeological preservation of the great pre-classic Maya
city beneath the modern town and to work toward economic development
programs which are owned by and benefit the community and which
minimize damange to the achaeological site and the more recent
historical German finac buildings.
